Week #3 of the 2016 PC Challenge

I made a few of these mosaic boxes after being inspired by Sara and her wonderful youtube tutorials as well as Laurie Mika's book and projects.  This is the first one I did in 2016, so I've counted it toward my goal of 52 projects completed in 2016 for the Polymer Clay challenge.  I made it for my sister.  When I set out to make them, I ask the person what theme they want and any words to include.  She told me hearts and love with the words "live laugh love" included.  She may have said pink but the purple seemed to be the better choice when I got going.  She also loves mustaches so I had to include one.

Week #2 of the 2016 PC Challenge

I'm still really into working with textures, so my creation for Week #2 of the polymer clay challenge was another little box.  This time I was just using up the red/gold combo I seemed to have mixed way too much of but still love how it blends.  This box is entirely clay, so it's a bit smaller than the others I've made.  I included a quarter for size.  I felt like it needed raised, so I added some glass gems on the bottom as feet.  I was surprised at how cute they turned out.

Week #1 of the 2016 PC Challenge

I signed up (VERY late) for the 2015 Polymer Clay Retreat.  The big appeal to me was the suncatcher tutorial by Chris who is artistically touted under Mandarin Moon.  I don't think there is one thing she's posted that I haven't just loved, so I was thrilled to be able to learn from her.  She showed us a lot of techniques to make different textures all from PC.  I am still obsessed with using these techniques, and so I made a box for a co-worker who had been so kind to share some supplies with me and who showed interest in my crafts.   It's my first item completed in 2016, so it's the Week #1 submittal for the #2016PCchallenge

It's a little wooden box from AC Moore that I covered in Premo polymer clay.  The three items on top are glass beads that she had given to me.  I used a bit of Inka Gold to accent some places on the gold clay and then added a bit of Stickles to a couple of places for a bit of glitter.  My co-worker just loved it, and I loved making it.

I suspect you'll see more of these types of boxes in 2016.  Hope you like them!

2016 Polymer Clay Challenge

I figure a little nudge to help me keep creating new things in polymer clay all year long would be good to have, so I am taking the 2016 Polymer Clay Challenge.  I joined as observer last year, but I am going to get started as a participant this year.   This is inspired by KatersAcres challenge.

So here goes...
I promise to make a new PC piece (no theme, just do something creative) each week of the year in 2016.  ♥ Amy
